If you find it a little extra hard to have that inner voice stay positive, don’t panic, there are a few very simple tricks that are scientifically backed up that you can do to boost your confidence.
1. Power pose
A woman by the name of Amy Cuddy who taught at Harvard Business School as a social psychologist noticed that the students that had more self-confidence tended to assume a “power pose” often in presentations, confrontations, and plain old talking to a neighbor. What is a power pose? A power pose is consciously taking up more room than necessary, such as putting your hands on your hips, lifting your chin when you talk, and having legs spread apart slightly when standing. According to the study conducted on multiple volunteers, when they stood in the power pose for around two minutes, it increased testosterone which in the end boosted their confidence.
2. Music choices
Research shows, that if you listen to your workout mix you can increase your self-confidence. An example of these confidence boosting tunes could be songs with heavy bass. Music with lots of bass moments tends to give you a feeling of more power and superiority rather than songs that are slower and are low-bass. Another surprising music related tip to boost your confidence is learning to play an instrument. It boosts the self-satisfaction in your mind and in the end, helps you become more confident in yourself.
Many many studies have been conducted and proved that exercise is vital to boosting self-confidence. Taking a small jog can put your mind at rest and lets it take a break. If you don’t have the time to go outside and go for a run, well that’s okay. In fact, a very simple mistake you make has more impact on your self-confidence than you might think. Slouching is horrible for your health and mental state of mind. You are most likely doing it right now. So if you sit up straight, it can help you think positively and will not only boost confidence but also better your health.
